Do you need to buy stuff with out-of-game money in Dungeons & Dragons: Dagger Tale (or other DDO games)?

When you buy Dungeons & Dragons, do you need to buy stuff with real money like the expansion or coins (like in the free version that you can download online- Stonereach)? In WOW you do, I'm not sure about Daggertale. I really need to know because its not worth buying a game and buying things again for THAT game.
