Putting some blonde in my hair?

I dyed it redish brown maybe a month ago, and it's dark with a red tint. I'd rather it be just brown, but I had to do red due to the fact that I had it bleach blonde underneath and a regular brown wouldn't take to the blonde and my hair wouldn't be all one color. I want to put highlights in it, but I know they will be orange and I don't want to damage my hair. Is there a way I can put the blonde in, or get the red out?
