Everyone wants to do something different. Your not ruining her life, your just making her do something she doesn't want to do, she wants to live her own life and to not be controlled like a puppet. This is want you wanted to do but your parents told you not to and you were controlled by them and that made you upset, so you making her do something she doesn't want to do is making her upset as well.
